Poland penal code change to classify gambling streams as serious crime

A bill submitted to the Polish Sejm proposes criminalising “patostreaming,” defined as the online broadcasting of content depicting serious criminal acts, including illegal gambling activities. If adopted, the changes to the Penal Code could introduce prison sentences of three months to five years for individuals who publicly share such content online. The proposal may significantly expand criminal liability to include influencers, streamers and promoters who showcase or promote gambling services without a Polish licence. While aimed at protecting minors and combating harmful online content, the reform could also create uncertainty for legitimate marketing and content related to licensed gambling operators.
