The Boomerang Topic: What About Consents to Use Sports Results?

Polish gambling law imposes an obligation on bookmakers to obtain consent from national sports organizers to use event results, a requirement that is unique within the EU and has sparked considerable controversy. The provision is unclear, which in practice allows organizers to impose high fees and their own conditions, burdening both the industry and players. Such regulation raises questions regarding compliance with the principle of freedom of business activity and antitrust rules.
